While we are talking about things around Newark being stunningly picturesque, we might as well mention the 3,300 acre state park in New Castle County, White Clay Creek State Park. Adjacent to Pennsylvania’s White Clay Creek Preserve, the two states joint-manage the 18.5 mile stretch of water and land characterized by White Clay Creek. While you certainly need to check the park out for yourself, we recommend it for its diversity of trails, birdwatching opportunities, mountain biking paths, picnic tables, historic structures, and a formal nature center. The park is equally ideal for the whole family, the wee pup, or a romantic getaway!
Tax Free Shopping In Delaware
Whether you are going to Yogurt City, Saxbys Coffee, Aunt Margaret’s Antique Mall, or Rainbow Books & Music, there’s something for everyone in downtown Newark. In terms of eating options, there are 70 award-winning restaurants to choose from. Plus, when you are on the beautiful one-mile Main Street, you are just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the aforementioned campus of the University of Delaware!

While we are talking about downtown Newark, we’d be remiss if we failed to mention one of the community’s favorite events. Downtown Newark Fabulous Friday’s happen on the fourth Friday of June, July, and August, as they showcase why everyone loves Newark so much! Perfect for the whole family, we recommend checking out the August show (if you can only choose one) as there will be a live performance with a Moana character singing and greeting children! Then, the University of Delaware Swing Club will perform, before the Juggling Hoffmans will dazzle the minds of old and young alike!

A Wealth Of Beaches
Although Newark is technically a suburb of Philadelphia, one of the best parts of living in Delaware is that you are never too far of a drive away from some incredible beaches. Whether you are looking to sip a cup of coffee while staring out onto the Atlantic from the comfort of a cafe, you want to bike down a seaside path, or sunbathe and swim, there are plenty of options for you! Each one has its own distinct vibe, regardless of if you want to experience the hip and active Dewey or the family-friendly Rehoboth.
The last thing we will say about Delaware beaches is that the bayside tends to be quieter and more easy going, whereas the oceanside is more active, vibrant, and breezy!
Christiana Mall
Nordstrom, Macy’s, JCPenney, and Target are the four flagship stores of Christiana Mall, a regional shopping mall with close to 180 shops. Among the 180 are Cinemark Theatres, Cabela’s, Barnes & Noble, and many others. If you are a fan of food courts, there’s the usual suspects you’ve likely grown accustomed to, without forgetting about options like Brio Tuscan Grill, The Cheesecake Factory, and California Pizza Kitchen.
As we mentioned above, a major perk of living in Delaware is that there is no sales tax! It’s easy to justify going shopping that much more often when you have an excuse like that!

According to Golfweek, going to Deerfield will accomplish exactly that!
